We ask that you present your card when you are checking out books. You may borrow books from any one of our
branches and return them to any one of our branches. We have a courier who picks up and drops off material at all five branches twice a week.
Books may also be left at
Leeds and the Thousand Island branches.
Borrowing Periods & Maximums
You may borrow any number of books at any time but only two on the same topic. We have a three-week loan period for most books, audiotapes and magazines. High demand materials like bestsellers may be on two week loans. There are book drops at all locations when the branches are closed.
DVDs
DVDs are generally loaned for a period of one-week except at the Main Branch in Elgin where we have one-day loans on popular materials. Fines are $1.00 a day for late DVDs. There is a minimum of three DVDs per card. Children may borrow family-rated or general material but the parents remain the best judge of what films they wish their children to see.
Fines & Replacements
Starting in October 2005, fines for books, magazines and audiotapes are .25¢ a day for adult materials with maximum charges for long overdue books. You should pay your late fines when you return the late items. If you are unable to pay at that time, you will need to pay your fines the next time you use your library card.
We do not charge for juvenile materials borrowed on a child's card. However, if a book is damaged or lost, we ask that the full replacement cost be paid.
