About Elgin Branch
In 1975, the Elgin (South Crosby) branch of the original Rideau Lakes Union Library was designated as library headquarters because of its central location and size. It has retained this position through all the library changes. In 2003, the original library was totally renovated as part of a new municipal complex with a fire hall, community room and post office.
Branch Highlights
The main branch houses a collection of over 10,000 books, a large reference section and a
local history and
genealogy collections with a microfilm reader. The brightly decorated juvenile room is a hub for our children’s programs and class visits. We also have three community access computers, each equip-ped with high-speed wireless access. Elgin also has photocopying facilities.
